Fabulous Bleasdale is a gorgeous aged oak board replicating the worn effect of the passage of time and use on a real oak floor. This stunning engineered oak flooring is smoked, which highlights the wood-grain and darkens the oak producing a rich, umber colour – close to dried tobacco leaves, imagine a deeply sun-tanned & creased 80year old Habaneros wearing gold and a fedora drawing on a Cuban cigar. This is that colour!

As well as going through the smoking or fuming process, Bleasdale Heavy aged oak also undergoes numerous antiquing & aging stages, all done by hand. These artisan applied techniques, carefully and subtly implemented, produce a beautiful aged look oak floor adorned with sunken knots, splits, hand-working marks and a timeworn feel to the face and edges of each board. All of this combines to elevate this super oak flooring to an aesthetic that yells comfort, style & panache. This wide plank oak is finished with a UV Oil, further highlighting this rustic oak’s inherent characteristics whilst also accentuating the creative aging work of the artisans. At 24cm wide, this super wide-plank oak flooring would certainly suit large open rooms where the scale of the wood is shown off to full advantage. Alternatively, use it to add a sense of warmth & quiet repose to smaller ‘haven’ rooms such as snugs, libraries or more excitingly wine cellars…

Bleasdale oak floor is available in 1.5cm (15mm) thick engineered boards, 220cm in length & 24cm wide (2200mm x 240mm) in an UV oiled finish. This engineered wood flooring has individually aged faces & edges and fits together via tongue & groove. Suitable for use with underfloor heating. More installation information can be found under the specification tab.

Design Tip: If you are aiming for that modern take on Regency interiors – dark furniture, deep coloured walls – then opt for wooden pieces that are a few shades lighter than your floor or choose classic designs such as chesterfields in a more exciting coloured leather than brown.

Grade RUSTIC GRADE: Rustic grade wood has the largest range of colour variation, sap content and allows almost a limitless size and number of knots. There will be checks (stable splits) across & between the growth rings, all of which add to its natural charm. Filler will be used and the colour is traditionally dark, carefully selected to compliment the oak rather than to match it or ‘disappear’. Rustic grade oak produces a stunning, traditional vintage looking floor.
Glue-Down We recommend fixing engineered oak, where possible, with the Glue-down method. Using a high-quality adhesive will result in the most stable floor installation as the base of each board is bonded directly to the sub-floor. No underlay is needed and no gluing of the tongue and groove is required. We recommend Bona Quantum flexible wood flooring adhesive though many other brands are available – speak with your installer as they will likely have a tried and tested product they can supply.
Floating Glue-down method is not appropriate for sub-floors that are damp, are mixed i.e. timber subfloor combined with concrete/screed sub-floor or have specific requirements such as acoustic deadening. With sub-floors of this type the Floating installation method will likely be proposed by your installer. The boards are not fixed to the sub-floor but instead uses the weight of the floor itself to keep them in place, usually with the use of an underlay between the sub-floor and boards. The tongue & groove would normally be glued in a floating installation. NB: Beswick stone do not provide underlay, glue or any other wood installation product.
Blending Shade and colour variation should be expected in our real timber engineered oak products. Each board will react differently to the finishing processes used and have unique characteristics such as knots and highlighted grain. Stronger tone & colour variation can occur between batches, so it is recommended you ensure you order enough for your project in one batch. As always when laying real timber flooring a good number of packs should be opened at a time and blended.
