Introducing Burstowe hand-antiqued aged oak, a fabulous addition to our aged oak flooring range. With characterful knots and a brushed grain highlighted by a subtle white oil, the natural characteristics of this oak floor simply sing through.
Burstowe engineered oak is a hand-aged board made from naturally rustic European oak known for its appealing aesthetic. Every separate hand applied technique accentuates the oak’s natural characteristics within each plank and the aged look is further accented by the hand bevelled edges. Burstowe aged oak flooring has been smoked, UV oiled and artisanally hand chiselled & hand-shaved to create a stunning pale-latte coloured oak floor with a fabulous textured finish incorporating rugged indentations. Each oak board is delicately smoked or fumed adding a beautiful depth to this natural-coloured oak. After all the aging methods are complete, a very simple whitewash is applied that settles in the oak’s natural grain, quietly highlighting & elevating this wonderful oak beyond measure. If your project demands a light wooden floor that impressively marries an aged look with a contemporary bent, then you cannot go wrong with our Burstowe oak flooring.
This fantastic, engineered oak is lightly smoked and finished with a lovely delicate whitewash & white UV oil gently accentuating the natural grain flow patterns in this superb oak floor.
Design Tip: For those who desire a contrasting scheme consider darker paint shades like Vulcan and Scree to infuse moodiness and a stark, dramatic contrast to the flooring. Vulcan & Scree are colours by Little Greene.

Grade | NATURAL GRADE: Natural Grade wood (also known as Character Grade) flooring will include both heartwood and sapwood. It is an affordable and attractive option that is full of character. Natural grade allows a wider range of colour variation, knots are larger and there will be incidents of checks (stable splits) across & between the growth rings, all of which add to its natural charm. Filler will be used and the colour is traditionally dark, carefully selected to compliment the oak rather than to match it or ‘disappear’. |
Glue-Down | We recommend fixing engineered oak, where possible, with the Glue-down method. Using a high-quality adhesive will result in the most stable floor installation as the base of each board is bonded directly to the sub-floor. No underlay is needed and no gluing of the tongue and groove is required. We recommend Bona Quantum flexible wood flooring adhesive though many other brands are available – speak with your installer as they will likely have a tried and tested product they can supply. |
Floating | Glue-down method is not appropriate for sub-floors that are damp, are mixed i.e. timber subfloor combined with concrete/screed sub-floor or have specific requirements such as acoustic deadening. With sub-floors of this type the Floating installation method will likely be proposed by your installer. The boards are not fixed to the sub-floor but instead uses the weight of the floor itself to keep them in place, usually with the use of an underlay between the sub-floor and boards. The tongue & groove would normally be glued in a floating installation. NB: Beswick stone do not provide underlay, glue or any other wood installation product. |
Blending | Shade and colour variation should be expected in our real timber engineered oak products. Each board will react differently to the finishing processes used and have unique characteristics such as knots and highlighted grain. Stronger tone & colour variation can occur between batches, so it is recommended you ensure you order enough for your project in one batch. As always when laying real timber flooring a good number of packs should be opened at a time and blended. |
Cleaning | The Bona Premium Spray Mop for Oiled Wood Floor is the easiest and most effective way of cleaning oiled wood floors in the home. Simply spray and wipe the floor clean. It cleans and nourishes your oiled wood floor while providing extra protection. |
