Heritage Grey Sanded engineered oak is an exciting addition to our Classic range of oak flooring by Beswick Stone. We are always working on developing striking new oak floors that offer something that little bit different and with the clever use of a grey oil wash we have produced a sumptuous engineered oak floor in a beautiful pale grey colour; think pale morel mushrooms on a forest floor. The grey oiled finish to this 22cm wide plank oak board creates a fresh & sophisticated effect. This stunning floor, with knots and a very delicate, lightly brushed grain which highlights the natural characteristics of the oak, is at home in both classically styled interiors and more modern schemes. Our sanded boards in the Heritage colours are very discreetly brushed which is a process that gently lifts the grain and softens the aesthetic of the oak producing a lovely soft finish & look. This fabulous oak really does add a touch of class to your home and is finished with a UV Oil. If you are looking for a hardwood oak floor, compatible with modern living & underfloor heating but want to stray a little bit away from the standard oak colours then Heritage Grey Sanded must be worthy of consideration.
Design Tip: Similar to lighter coloured woods, grey toned wood floors provide a versatile, neutral foundation for your space. To evoke a breezy, calming atmosphere, consider the restful shade of a soft pastel blue like Delicate Blue, whose light tone adds a touch of colour without overwhelming the space. The cool blue-grey personality of a lofty grey like Inox has a similar calming effect. Muted, earthy hues like Windmill Lane plays well with the natural undertones often found in grey floors and makes a smart choice for a cozy, nature-inspired environments. If it’s drama and mood you’re after, dive into the bold contrast of Deep Space Blue, which is, funnily enough, a deep, dark blue… All paint colours are by Little Greene.
Also available in a large format Herringbone Parquet, plank size is 60cm x 12cm x 2cm.

Grade | CLASSIC GRADE: Classic Grade wood exhibits the natural variation of timber without or with much less of the more characterful features in Natural & Rustic Grade. Boards with very few knots are mixed with some that contain larger knots or checks which may be filled. The colour variation from heartwood to sapwood is to be expected but to a lesser degree. |
Installation Points | Engineered Herringbone Oak Flooring cannot be floated over an underlay. The planks must be solidly attached (glue down method) to the sub-floor using an appropriate adhesive. |
Glue-Down | We recommend fixing engineered oak, where possible, with the Glue-down method. Using a high-quality adhesive will result in the most stable floor installation as the base of each board is bonded directly to the sub-floor. No underlay is needed and no gluing of the tongue and groove is required. We recommend Bona Quantum flexible wood flooring adhesive though many other brands are available – speak with your installer as they will likely have a tried and tested product they can supply. |
Floating | Glue-down method is not appropriate for sub-floors that are damp, are mixed i.e. timber subfloor combined with concrete/screed sub-floor or have specific requirements such as acoustic deadening. With sub-floors of this type the Floating installation method will likely be proposed by your installer. The boards are not fixed to the sub-floor but instead uses the weight of the floor itself to keep them in place, usually with the use of an underlay between the sub-floor and boards. The tongue & groove would normally be glued in a floating installation. NB: Beswick stone do not provide underlay, glue or any other wood installation product. |
Blending | Shade and colour variation should be expected in our real timber engineered oak products. Each board will react differently to the finishing processes used and have unique characteristics such as knots and highlighted grain. Stronger tone & colour variation can occur between batches, so it is recommended you ensure you order enough for your project in one batch. As always when laying real timber flooring a good number of packs should be opened at a time and blended. |
Cleaning | The Bona Premium Spray Mop for Oiled Wood Floor is the easiest and most effective way of cleaning oiled wood floors in the home. Simply spray and wipe the floor clean. It cleans and nourishes your oiled wood floor while providing extra protection. |
