Those looking for light wood floors that will stay in vogue as long as the solid timber look lasts (which is basically forever) cannot go far wrong with the super stylish Kiln antiqued oak flooring from our Salvage collection.
This stunning hand-worked oak floor takes inspiration from salvaged oak, creating an elegant flooring effect with a timeworn appearance. With its beautiful pale natural oak colour, Kiln engineered oak flooring overflows with style & quality. As with each oak in our Salvage collection, various aging techniques, all done by hand, are applied to our Kiln oak flooring. This artisanal work enriches the oak flooring bestowing it with the imperfections one would see in a historic, salvaged oak floor. Natural blemishes in the oak are emphasised creating a charming effect and the heavy textures in each individual plank generate a stunning authenticity. Once all the hand-aging is finished, Kiln is treated with a UV oil accentuating the natural grain and adding a refined finish to this stunning pale natural wood coloured oak.
Design Tip: Neutral colours coordinate fantastically with light oak floors – think grey, beige, taupe & greige to give your walls character. Avoid darker colours that can create too much contrast with your pale oak boards.
Salvage Kiln oak floor is available in 1.5cm (15mm) thick engineered boards, 190cm in length and are 19cm wide (1900mm x 190mm). Grade | RUSTIC GRADE: Rustic grade wood has the largest range of colour variation, sap content and allows almost a limitless size and number of knots. There will be checks (stable splits) across & between the growth rings, all of which add to its natural charm. Filler will be used and the colour is traditionally dark, carefully selected to compliment the oak rather than to match it or ‘disappear’. Rustic grade oak produces a stunning, traditional vintage looking floor. |
Glue-Down | We recommend fixing engineered oak, where possible, with the Glue-down method. Using a high-quality adhesive will result in the most stable floor installation as the base of each board is bonded directly to the sub-floor. No underlay is needed and no gluing of the tongue and groove is required. We recommend Bona Quantum flexible wood flooring adhesive though many other brands are available – speak with your installer as they will likely have a tried and tested product they can supply. |
Floating | Glue-down method is not appropriate for sub-floors that are damp, are mixed i.e. timber subfloor combined with concrete/screed sub-floor or have specific requirements such as acoustic deadening. With sub-floors of this type the Floating installation method will likely be proposed by your installer. The boards are not fixed to the sub-floor but instead uses the weight of the floor itself to keep them in place, usually with the use of an underlay between the sub-floor and boards. The tongue & groove would normally be glued in a floating installation. NB: Beswick stone do not provide underlay, glue or any other wood installation product. |
Blending | Shade and colour variation should be expected in our real timber engineered oak products. Each board will react differently to the finishing processes used and have unique characteristics such as knots and highlighted grain. Stronger tone & colour variation can occur between batches, so it is recommended you ensure you order enough for your project in one batch. As always when laying real timber flooring a good number of packs should be opened at a time and blended. |
Cleaning | The Bona Premium Spray Mop for Oiled Wood Floor is the easiest and most effective way of cleaning oiled wood floors in the home. Simply spray and wipe the floor clean. It cleans and nourishes your oiled wood floor while providing extra protection. |
