Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication’ – so said the great artist and inventor Leonardo da Vinci, and we couldn’t agree more! Fitting the bill to utter perfection, our timeless Antique Heritage #12, with its very pale, almost unfinished oak tones, evokes classic hardwood floors of the past, gently worn by time and use. The wonderfully subtle colour palette provides a neutral base that makes for flexible interior styling and design, keep it simple with creams and warm earth shades or go wild and embrace hot hues and dramatic patterns. Either way, this is a beautiful oak floor to which you can apply your own stamp through considered interior design and transform into an absolute masterpiece.
These beautifully hand-aged & hand-antiqued engineered oak boards draw on artisanal hand-working techniques to create a stunning flooring effect. Pale, warm oak colours are accentuated by the light hand-applied brushed finish and the clever use of an invisible UV oil to finish the oak solidifies the attractive unfinished oak aesthetic. Natural imperfections in the oak create a charming effect and the subtle chisel work on individual planks generates a stunning authenticity. Pair our stunning Antique Heritage #12 with modern furnishings to create a new meets old contemporary look, or match with traditional styling to effortlessly construct a classically chic environment.
Design Tip: Pale unfinished oak pairs well with a wide range of paint colours, especially fresh, clean neutrals that provide a simple backdrop. Soft shades of white like Loft White and Shirting create a crisp and airy look, while a light green like Pearl Colour Mid is a great choice for a subtle pop of colour. Loft White, Shirting & Pearl Colour-Mid are colours by Little Greene.

Grade | NATURAL GRADE: Natural Grade wood (also known as Character Grade) flooring will include both heartwood and sapwood. It is an affordable and attractive option that is full of character. Natural grade allows a wider range of colour variation, knots are larger and there will be incidents of checks (stable splits) across & between the growth rings, all of which add to its natural charm. Filler will be used and the colour is traditionally dark, carefully selected to compliment the oak rather than to match it or ‘disappear’. |
Glue-Down | We recommend fixing engineered oak, where possible, with the Glue-down method. Using a high-quality adhesive will result in the most stable floor installation as the base of each board is bonded directly to the sub-floor. No underlay is needed and no gluing of the tongue and groove is required. We recommend Bona Quantum flexible wood flooring adhesive though many other brands are available – speak with your installer as they will likely have a tried and tested product they can supply. |
Floating | Glue-down method is not appropriate for sub-floors that are damp, are mixed i.e. timber subfloor combined with concrete/screed sub-floor or have specific requirements such as acoustic deadening. With sub-floors of this type the Floating installation method will likely be proposed by your installer. The boards are not fixed to the sub-floor but instead uses the weight of the floor itself to keep them in place, usually with the use of an underlay between the sub-floor and boards. The tongue & groove would normally be glued in a floating installation. NB: Beswick stone do not provide underlay, glue or any other wood installation product. |
Blending | Shade and colour variation should be expected in our real timber engineered oak products. Each board will react differently to the finishing processes used and have unique characteristics such as knots and highlighted grain. Stronger tone & colour variation can occur between batches, so it is recommended you ensure you order enough for your project in one batch. As always when laying real timber flooring a good number of packs should be opened at a time and blended. |
Cleaning | The Bona Premium Spray Mop for Oiled Wood Floor is the easiest and most effective way of cleaning oiled wood floors in the home. Simply spray and wipe the floor clean. It cleans and nourishes your oiled wood floor while providing extra protection. |
