Offering an ageless distinction and beauty, our Barnwood oak flooring is unparalleled in terms of its architectural quality. Barnwood Oast is a medium oak coloured floor full of richness and a timeless allure. This beautiful, engineered oak has so much character, and the handworking brings out its personality, depth and colour even further creating a gorgeous, reclaimed floor aesthetic.
When you think of an oak floor, it is very likely that the colour you envisage is a rich oak colour with subtle orange undertones that have become darker and smokier with time and footfall. Barnwood Oast aged and antiqued oak is the floor that matches that ideal. We’ve taken rustic grade oak with all its inherent traits and charm, and applied numerous hand aging and hand working methods, to give this superb oak a grand old, aged look – one that is in keeping with a well-trodden or even reclaimed oak floor. The oaks natural flaws are celebrated; the knots accentuated, the splits or cleaves heightened, the flow of the grain pattern emphasized. All harmoniously blend to produce simply, fabulous, antiqued oak flooring. Each oak board is 22cm in width meaning that it can be incorporated into the largest of spaces. This versatile wide oak plank creates a stately finish, full of style, flair and panache. With time & use oak develops a subtle patina that furthers elevates this wonderful natural material. Barnwood Oast has been finished with a satin hardwaxed oil that not only protects the oak floor but also replicates this patina, lifting the splendour of this gorgeous oak floor to a level without equal.
Our Barnwood collection of distressed and aged oak flooring gives the gorgeous look and feel of reclaimed oak but in a stable, engineered board making it suitable for modern installations and with underfloor heating.

Structural Board 20mm Format | The 2200x220x20 format is a 20mm thick board so can be laid directly on joists using an appropriate fixing mechanism. |
Grade | RUSTIC GRADE: Rustic grade wood has the largest range of colour variation, sap content and allows almost a limitless size and number of knots. There will be checks (stable splits) across & between the growth rings, all of which add to its natural charm. Filler will be used and the colour is traditionally dark, carefully selected to compliment the oak rather than to match it or ‘disappear’. Rustic grade oak produces a stunning, traditional vintage looking floor. |
Glue-Down | We recommend fixing engineered oak, where possible, with the Glue-down method. Using a high-quality adhesive will result in the most stable floor installation as the base of each board is bonded directly to the sub-floor. No underlay is needed and no gluing of the tongue and groove is required. We recommend Bona Quantum flexible wood flooring adhesive though many other brands are available – speak with your installer as they will likely have a tried and tested product they can supply. |
Floating | Glue-down method is not appropriate for sub-floors that are damp, are mixed i.e. timber subfloor combined with concrete/screed sub-floor or have specific requirements such as acoustic deadening. With sub-floors of this type the Floating installation method will likely be proposed by your installer. The boards are not fixed to the sub-floor but instead uses the weight of the floor itself to keep them in place, usually with the use of an underlay between the sub-floor and boards. The tongue & groove would normally be glued in a floating installation. NB: Beswick stone do not provide underlay, glue or any other wood installation product. |
Blending | Shade and colour variation should be expected in our real timber engineered oak products. Each board will react differently to the finishing processes used and have unique characteristics such as knots and highlighted grain. Stronger tone & colour variation can occur between batches, so it is recommended you ensure you order enough for your project in one batch. As always when laying real timber flooring a good number of packs should be opened at a time and blended. |
Cleaning | The Bona Premium Spray Mop for Oiled Wood Floor is the easiest and most effective way of cleaning oiled wood floors in the home. Simply spray and wipe the floor clean. It cleans and nourishes your oiled wood floor while providing extra protection. |
