Our Hunston Handworked #10 is a gorgeous semi-rustic board with a wonderful handshaved finish that elevates this very light smoked oak board to new heights. With traditional oak character throughout but with this contemporary take on hand-finishing, this lovely engineered oak floor will seamlessly fit into modern projects or more traditional ones. Hunston Handworked #10 engineered oak flooring is natural grade containing knots and splits which give this oak floor a wonderful depth of character and warmth. Various hand-working techniques are employed including hand bevelling and distressing the plank edges to create an antiqued look to this superb engineered oak flooring. The oaks natural blemishes and traits are celebrated and accented during manufacture, adding a timeworn, naturally aged aesthetic to this fabulous oak floor. The oak has been finished with a subtle whitewash and a 'clear' white UV oil which adds a beautiful highlight to the natural grain and heightens the raw colour of the oak resulting in a very subtle warm tone giving your floor that much desired natural colour and appearance.

Our Hunston Handworked range offers 6 different colour options, all naturally produced through a combination of different smoking times and finishing oil (no chemical staining). #10 is light smoked and finished with a white UV oil which gently accents the natural grain flow patterns in this superb oak floor. This engineered wood flooring has individually distressed & antiqued edges and fits together via tongue & groove. More installation information can be found under the specification tab.

Design Tip: Light smoked oak floors pair well with a wide range of paint hues, especially fresh, clean neutrals that provide a simple backdrop. Soft shades of white create a crisp and airy look, while a pale light green like 'Pearl Colour-Mid' is a great choice for a subtle pop of colour. Soft, slate grey undertones as seen in 'Gauze-Dark' will elevate your space with a bit of depth and simple sophistication. Pearl Colour-Mid and Gauze-Dark are colours by Little Greene.

Structural Board 20mm Format 220mm x 2200mm x 20mm: This is a 20mm thick board so can be laid directly on joists using an appropriate fixing mechanism.
Grade NATURAL GRADE: Natural Grade wood (also known as Character Grade) flooring will include both heartwood and sapwood. It is an affordable and attractive option that is full of character. Natural grade allows a wider range of colour variation, knots are larger and there will be incidents of checks (stable splits) across & between the growth rings, all of which add to its natural charm. Filler will be used and the colour is traditionally dark, carefully selected to compliment the oak rather than to match it or ‘disappear’.
Glue-Down We recommend fixing engineered oak, where possible, with the Glue-down method. Using a high-quality adhesive will result in the most stable floor installation as the base of each board is bonded directly to the sub-floor. No underlay is needed and no gluing of the tongue and groove is required. We recommend Bona Quantum flexible wood flooring adhesive though many other brands are available – speak with your installer as they will likely have a tried and tested product they can supply.
Floating Glue-down method is not appropriate for sub-floors that are damp, are mixed i.e. timber subfloor combined with concrete/screed sub-floor or have specific requirements such as acoustic deadening. With sub-floors of this type the Floating installation method will likely be proposed by your installer. The boards are not fixed to the sub-floor but instead uses the weight of the floor itself to keep them in place, usually with the use of an underlay between the sub-floor and boards. The tongue & groove would normally be glued in a floating installation. NB: Beswick stone do not provide underlay, glue or any other wood installation product.
Blending Shade and colour variation should be expected in our real timber engineered oak products. Each board will react differently to the finishing processes used and have unique characteristics such as knots and highlighted grain. Stronger tone & colour variation can occur between batches, so it is recommended you ensure you order enough for your project in one batch. As always when laying real timber flooring a good number of packs should be opened at a time and blended.
