Each plank in our Vintage Original antique oak flooring undergoes a smoking which adds a warmth and depth of hue to this medium to dark oak coloured board making it eminently suitable for a range of schemes. Whether you need to add warmth and comfort to a large living area or increase the snugness of your snug(!) then Vintage Original engineered oak should certainly be part of your shortlist.

Carefully evaluated and sensitively aged, each board of Vintage Original comes with all the aesthetic qualities of a reclaimed vintage oak board but none of the impracticalities. This engineered oak flooring will transform the appearance of any area in the home, creating a timeless finish that will last for many years to come. This beautiful oak engineered flooring has been smoked, UV oiled and every plank has been individually aged & worked by hand to create a rich, textured finish floor of a warm, smoked oak colour with a beautiful time-worn appearance.

At 24cm wide, this fabulous oak floor is eminently suitable for large living spaces, giving this classic, natural material, the room it needs to show off. Every plank of this engineered oak floor is antiqued by hand resulting in a plethora of dings & marks, that, when combined with the heavy textural irregular brushing, culminates in an antique oak floor that is incredibly handsome. With additional aged characteristics such as chisel marking & antiqued edging, Vintage Original is as vintage and original as you can get!

Design Tip: If you are working on bringing a really old property back life, then restoring original features & filling the space with salvaged objects will team beautifully with this Vintage oak floor. Opt for pale walls as the contrast between the dark floor and light walls feels very classically English.

Grade RUSTIC GRADE: Rustic grade wood has the largest range of colour variation, sap content and allows almost a limitless size and number of knots. There will be checks (stable splits) across & between the growth rings, all of which add to its natural charm. Filler will be used and the colour is traditionally dark, carefully selected to compliment the oak rather than to match it or ‘disappear’. Rustic grade oak produces a stunning, traditional vintage looking floor.
Glue-Down We recommend fixing engineered oak, where possible, with the Glue-down method. Using a high-quality adhesive will result in the most stable floor installation as the base of each board is bonded directly to the sub-floor. No underlay is needed and no gluing of the tongue and groove is required. We recommend Bona Quantum flexible wood flooring adhesive though many other brands are available – speak with your installer as they will likely have a tried and tested product they can supply.
Floating Glue-down method is not appropriate for sub-floors that are damp, are mixed i.e. timber subfloor combined with concrete/screed sub-floor or have specific requirements such as acoustic deadening. With sub-floors of this type the Floating installation method will likely be proposed by your installer. The boards are not fixed to the sub-floor but instead uses the weight of the floor itself to keep them in place, usually with the use of an underlay between the sub-floor and boards. The tongue & groove would normally be glued in a floating installation. NB: Beswick stone do not provide underlay, glue or any other wood installation product.
Blending Shade and colour variation should be expected in our real timber engineered oak products. Each board will react differently to the finishing processes used and have unique characteristics such as knots and highlighted grain. Stronger tone & colour variation can occur between batches, so it is recommended you ensure you order enough for your project in one batch. As always when laying real timber flooring a good number of packs should be opened at a time and blended.
Cleaning The Bona Premium Spray Mop for Oiled Wood Floor is the easiest and most effective way of cleaning oiled wood floors in the home. Simply spray and wipe the floor clean. It cleans and nourishes your oiled wood floor while providing extra protection.
